Let
me start by saying, "THANK YOU" again. It
seems like only yesterday that you, the voters, gave
me one of the greatest thrills of my life and a
wonderful opportunity when you first elected me as
your District 12A State Representative. I was and
continue to be truly honored and humbled by your
continued vote of confidence. I have worked hard to represent our district to the best of
my ability. My number one priority has been, and
always will be, to make sure you can count on
Representative Ward to do everything possible to
insure that your voices, needs and desires are heard
at the State Capitol.
Each day I serve you brings new challenges,
excitement, joy, and sometimes frustration as I work
to make things better for all of us. I truly enjoy
hearing from so many of you. I listen to your
concerns and requests. I have and will continue to
introduce legislation that will benefit not only our
district’s specific needs, but also the needs of
our children, seniors, veterans, and hard-working
families. I attend as many community events and
meetings as possible to stay in touch with you, my
constituents.
With our state facing a budget deficit, the
challenge will be to balance the budget and at the
same time protect the things that make Minnesota a
great place to live.
We have been able to make important
investments in areas important to you such as jobs,
education, property tax relief, and health care.
Now we must protect them.
We must control spending and cut where necessary,
but must also adequately fund critical state
services so costs are not pushed down to local
governments, resulting in even higher property
taxes. Proposed
cuts must be evaluated against a standard of short
and long-term future impacts. Investments must be
sensible and programs with a high rate of return
should have priority.
The actions we take on education will be
particularly critical.
Children have only one chance to come to
school and receive a quality education.
Preparation of our workforce will determine
our economic future.
We must fully and fairly fund education.
I believe by sticking to the basics, building
bi-partisan coalitions, collaborating, negotiating,
and compromising we can balance the budget, make the
investments important to you and move Minnesota
forward.
I
ask you to please stay in touch with me. Watch for
my legislative survey.
Please complete it so I can get your input
and feedback. I
want to hear from you on the issues. Check this web
site for frequent updates. You may also access my legislative
web site and subscribe to email
newsletters to get more detail on
legislative happenings.
I hope my performance has met your expectations. I assure you I will continue to work tirelessly to represent
you. Once
again, thank you for the opportunity you have
blessed me with.
Your feedback and input is my most valuable
tool. I can't do it without you. Please
stay in touch.
God bless,
District 12A Representative
